Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme

Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS)
The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS), established by the Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong, aims to attract the best and brightest students from across the globe to pursue their PhD studies in Hong Kong universities.

The HKPFS package at CUHK includes financial support totalling up to HK$1.69 Million (~US$217,000). Please visit here for more details.

CUHK provides selected HKPFS candidates with generous financial assistance totaling up to HK$1.69M (over US$217,000)* covering the following:

  • A monthly stipend of HK$27,100 (approx. US$3,475)* and a conference travel allowance of HK$13,600 (approx. US$1,740)* per year
  • A tuition fee waiver of up to HK$168,400 (approx. US$21,500)*
  • An award of HK$40,000 (approx. US$5,130)* for lodging in the first year of study and HK$20,000 (approx. US$2,560)* in the subsequent years
  • An on-campus hostel fee waiver in the first year of study
  • Guaranteed on-campus accommodation throughout the normative study period for HKPFS awardees who submit timely applications
